Carma Henson, Esq.
Carma Henson is a Partner at Henson Fuerst, where she has built her career representing individuals harmed or neglected through no fault of their own. A 1999 graduate of UNC School of Law, she focuses her practice on nursing home abuse and neglect litigation, taking on large corporations that put profits ahead of the safety and dignity of vulnerable residents.
Carma currently serves as 2025-2026 President of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ) and Chair of the AAJ Nursing Home Litigation Group. Her honors include 6 straight years of Super Lawyers recognition, a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent rating, and a spot among The National Trial Lawyers' Top 100 Civil Plaintiff Attorneys. She is also a Fellow of the Pound Civil Justice Institute and speaks and writes frequently on nursing home litigation nationally.
Ernest Tosh, Esq.
Ernest "Ernie" Tosh is the Founding Partner of Tosh Law Firm, a boutique firm dedicated exclusively to serious nursing home abuse and neglect litigation. He has tried over 150 jury trials to verdict and recovered millions for families harmed by nursing homes.
A nationally recognized expert in nursing home finances, staffing, and organizational structures, Ernie has testified before Congress, published peer-reviewed articles on understaffing, and collaborated with state attorney general offices on nursing home fraud investigations. He regularly educates attorneys and advocacy organizations nationwide.
Jody Moore, Esq.
Jody Moore is Founding Partner at Moore Hutchins Moore, LLP, a law firm with a singular focus on elder abuse and neglect litigation. For the past 25 years, she has represented elders and their families across California against nursing homes, residential care facilities, and the corporations that run them. A Ventura County native, she earned her B.A. from Pepperdine University and her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law.
Her trial work has earned honors including San Francisco Trial Lawyer of the Year, Ventura County Trial Lawyer of the Year, and the Ventura County Women Trial Lawyers Legacy Award. She lectures nationally on long-term care litigation and is known among colleagues for her sharp trial strategy and case framing.
Lesley Ann Clement, Esq.
Lesley Ann Clement, Principal at Clement Law Group, came to elder abuse law personally: after her great-aunt suffered abuse and neglect at a residential care facility, Lesley took the case to trial and won, resulting in the facility losing its license. A 1988 graduate of San Diego School of Law, she has built her entire practice around representing victims of institutional abuse and neglect.
Her work has drawn national attention, with coverage in Time, People, Frontline, The New York Times, and the National Law Journal. Lesley previously chaired the AAJ's Nursing Home Litigation Group and holds a longstanding place in Martindale-Hubbell's register of preeminent lawyers. She also invests heavily in the next generation of attorneys, teaching seminars across the country and mentoring younger lawyers in the elder advocacy space.
Stephen Garcia, Esq.
Stephen Garcia is Senior Partner at Garcia & Coman, where he represents victims of elder and nursing home abuse and is regarded as one of the leading civil litigators in the country. Over more than three decades of practice, he has served as counsel in litigation resulting in over $3 billion in compensation for clients nationwide, including a $38.6 million settlement that stands as the largest under California's Elder Abuse and Dependent Adult Civil Protection Act in history.
Stephen has also shaped the legal landscape beyond the courtroom, authoring the amicus brief in Inclan v. Covenant Care, a landmark California Supreme Court case distinguishing elder abuse claims from professional negligence. He has been named one of the "500 Leading Lawyers in America" by LawDragon and a Super Lawyer in Southern California for nearly two decades.
