Speaker Biography

Leila H. Kilgore has been practicing law in Fredericksburg, Virginia, for 36 years. Her legal journey began in 1989 under difficult circumstances, working for an attorney who misrepresented everything about himself. Disillusioned and left without a job or financial security, she took a leap of faith and launched a small practice with a fellow law school graduate, focusing on court-appointed cases just to make ends meet.

In 1991, her father joined the practice, bringing his expertise in Workers' Compensation and Social Security law. It wasn't the ideal beginning she had envisioned, and the cases that came her way were overwhelmingly family law, a practice area she quickly realized didn't align with her temperament or passion.

While her father steadily built his niche, Kilgore continued to take on a wide variety of cases. Eventually, with more stability and support around her, she found the opportunity to shift her focus and energy toward what truly inspired her: personal injury law.
